Jellyfish — Small Textile Art
A little jellyfish drifting through a deep blue ocean of stitches, fabric and sparkle.
This 10” x 18” original textile artwork was created entirely from small fabric scraps, giving leftover pieces of beautiful textiles a new life. I selected and combined tiny remnants to build the jellyfish, creating layers of color and texture within its translucent-looking body.
The background is hand dyed, giving the piece its rich underwater blue. Free-motion stitching creates the flowing tentacles and surrounding movement, while carefully placed sequins add delicate flashes of color and light.
The result is a small, original piece of fiber art inspired by the beauty and movement of the ocean.
Its size makes it wonderfully versatile. It can be framed like a piece of artwork or simply pinned to a display board, making it easy to add to a bedroom, studio, reading corner, beach house or coastal-inspired space.
Made with scraps, made with intention
One of the things I love about textile art is the opportunity to give small pieces of fabric a second life.
