This one-of-a-kind artwork begins with a hand-dyed Nui shibouri panel.
The rich indigo background is entirely hand dyed using the ancient Japanese Nui Shibori resist-dyeing technique. Soft cloud-like textures emerge naturally during the dyeing process, while the layered patterns along the lower edge suggest distant mountains, flowing water or mist—allowing each viewer to discover their own landscape.
Two graceful cranes, created from my original design, glide across the evening sky beneath a crescent moon. Every stitch contributes to the movement and texture, turning cloth into an expressive work of art.
No printing, painting or digital reproduction is used. Every element is created with fabric, thread, dye and countless hours of handwork.
